Rwanda: Improving data quality for decision-making

  • Improving data quality for decision-making

In partnership with Rwanda Biomedical Center, on 21-22 April 2022, Enabel conducted the second of a series of workshops for Data Managers on the use of the WHO Data Quality Tool.

The Monitoring and Evaluation team from the Maternal, Child and Community Health (MCCH) division of the Rwanda Biomedical Centre, supported by Enabel, is committed to improving data quality countrywide for effective and evidence-based planning and decision-making to improve maternal and child health outcomes.

This two-day workshop supported the Data Managers from the 16 hospitals of Enabel’s intervention to correct existing errors using the World Health Organization Data Quality Tool. The additional skills and practice using the tool by data managers is a sustainable approach to reducing data entry errors.

This WHO data quality tool is available within the routine data system. One of the functions is to support the identification of data entries that fall outside the usual values. It allows the data managers at hospital level and health center level to quickly identify potential errors in data entry and resolve them in a timely fashion.
