The Rwanda Global
Healthcare Summit 2021 took place on 18-20 November 2021 in Kigali under the
theme “Global Health Delivery, introduction of new ideas and digital innovation”.
The purpose of the
Rwanda Global Healthcare Summit was to enhance the quality of life by raising
awareness through educative and informative health conferences.
In his opening
remarks, Dirk Deprez, Resident Representative of Enabel in Rwanda said "stepping
into manufacturing of health products & technologies in Africa not only
represents an equity opportunity to assure better access to universal health,
but also to job and wealth creation."
“Support can go well
beyond the support to the regulatory authority, Government and development
partners are willing to derisk investments, by supporting access to finance and
guarantee funds, to support the development of bankable projects, but also by
supporting training for staff, boosting the right TVET and university trainings
to build the local workforce needed.” He added.
Enabel’s Health team
members played a big role in the summit. They shared with participants
presentations in relation with Enabel’s interventions in the health sector.
The 3-day summit
brought together Enabel and partners staff from Rwanda Biomedical Center, Ministry
of Health, University of Rwanda and other health practitioners. Enabel Health
team covered various topic, from digital health to near-miss audits in Rwanda, data
quality in maternal health program, mental health and drug and substance abuse
amongst adolescents in 7 districts of Rwanda.
Aside from the conferences,
Enabel participated in the exhibition with a booth where the work in the health
sector in Rwanda over the past years was shown, such as the building of Nyarugenge
District hospital, the NCDs campaigns, the current health program etc.
